This website does not use cookies, does not use analytics or advertising services and does not embed content from third parties. Fonts, images and the trailer are loaded directly from this website. The contact form sends your input to me by email only and does not store it on the server.
Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you visit the site, the server automatically records technical data that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, browser type and operating system, and the page you visited before.
This data is needed to deliver the website securely and reliably and to defend the server against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. STRATO stores IP addresses for seven days at most and anonymises them afterwards. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with STRATO.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, you submit your name, email address and your message. I need these details to be able to reply. Without them, I cannot deal with your enquiry.
The form transmits your input over an encrypted HTTPS connection. A script on the server at STRATO forwards it as an email to my mailbox at freenet. Your input is not stored in a database or a log file, and your IP address is not included in the message. The email itself then sits in my mailbox.
I use your details only to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in answering enquiries) or, where your enquiry concerns a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The message is deleted once the matter is closed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
To protect against spam, the form contains a hidden field and measures how long the page was open before you submitted it. A short script runs in your browser for this. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and sends nothing to third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (protecting the website against abuse).
Contact by email
If you email me directly, I use your details only to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or, where your enquiry concerns a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The message is deleted once the matter is closed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Links to Amazon
The books are linked to their pages on Amazon. No data is transmitted to Amazon when this website loads. Only when you click a link do you reach Amazon’s site, where Amazon’s privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21). To exercise them, simply send an email to the address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is:
